Peer Review Process & Workflow

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by at least two independent expert reviewers with domain expertise in computer science or applied information technology.

  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review): The editorial team evaluates manuscript suitability, technical depth, formatting compliance, and the presence of the 4 Mandatory Declarations (AI Usage, Author Contributions CRediT, Funding Statement, Conflict of Interest).
  2. Plagiarism & AI Screening: All submissions are screened using iThenticate, Turnitin, and Copyleaks prior to external review. Submissions exceeding the 20% similarity threshold are rejected or returned for modification.
  3. Double-Blind Review: Anonymized manuscripts are reviewed by at least two qualified referees; author and reviewer identities remain strictly masked throughout the workflow.
  4. Editorial Decision: Editorial determinations are rendered based on reviewer evaluations: Accept Submission, Revisions Required (Minor), Resubmit for Review (Major), Resubmit Elsewhere, or Decline Submission.
  5. Revision & Re-review: Authors must submit revised drafts accompanied by a point-by-point response letter within the designated timeframe. Re-evaluations are conducted by the handling editor or re-sent to original reviewers.
  6. Final Decision & Production: Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, DOI minting, and layout proofreading. Complete bibliographic metadata on the galley PDF are synchronized with the OJS portal.

JIKTI is committed to an efficient, transparent, and rigorous peer review cycle. On average, authors can expect a first decision within 7 days, a peer review period of 14 days, a total submission-to-acceptance timeframe of approximately 28 days, and online publication within 7 days of acceptance. JIKTI operates in strict adherence to best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Every published article explicitly displays its chronological history (Received, Revised, Accepted, and Published dates).

Special Issue Policy

JIKTI periodically publishes Special Issues focusing on pioneering computational paradigms, emerging technological frontiers, or select high-impact research tracks. Special Issues are guest-edited by distinguished scholars and undergo identical double-blind peer review rigor as regular issues.

Proposals for Special Issues should encompass:

  • A clear title and technical outline of the proposed computational theme;
  • Relevance to the journal's scope and contemporary global computer science trajectories;
  • Guest Editorial team credentials, institutional affiliations, and Scopus/ORCID profiles;
  • A structured milestone timeline covering manuscript submission, review windows, and galley finalization.

Proposals may be submitted via the Contact Us page.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

JIKTI acknowledges the constructive assistance provided by Artificial Intelligence tools in scholarly writing while preserving academic transparency. The following principles apply to all submissions:

  • Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must provide a formal statement prior to References indicating whether AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Grammarly AI) were utilized during linguistic polishing or proofreading.
  • Non-Authorship of AI: Conforming to COPE standards, AI models cannot be credited as authors or co-authors because non-human software cannot assume legal or ethical responsibility for research assertions.
  • Author Ownership & Integrity: Authors maintain full intellectual ownership and legal responsibility for the factual integrity, algorithmic veracity, code performance, benchmark evaluations, citations, and originality of their published work.
  • Permitted Scope: The use of AI is welcomed strictly for proofreading, grammar, and stylistic enhancement. Mathematical derivations, source code designs, experimental benchmarks, and substantive conclusions must represent the authors' own scholarly synthesis.

This policy operates in complete alignment with guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication Frequency & Scheduling

Jurnal Ilmu Komputer dan Teknologi Informasi is published twice a year (biannual)March and September. Each issue features an intentionally curated collection of peer-reviewed research papers, algorithmic evaluations, and technical implementations. Submission slots per issue are scheduled to maintain editorial scrutiny and reviewer diligence. Authors are advised to monitor the latest Announcements for current call-for-papers schedules.
