Jurnal Sistem Komputer (SISKOM)

Jurnal Sistem Komputer (SISKOM) (E-ISSN: 2798-2513) is an accredited, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by LPPM STMIK Indonesia Banda Aceh in collaboration with the Computer System Study Program. Officially accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology as SINTA 5, the journal is published quarterly in February, May, August, and November. All published manuscripts are permanently archived and assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Focus and Scope

Jurnal Sistem Komputer (SISKOM) is dedicated to advancing high-impact theoretical discoveries, hardware prototyping, empirical experimentations, and comprehensive reviews across computer systems engineering, hardware architectures, embedded electronics, and cyber-physical networks. The journal bridges fundamental computational hardware logic with applied cybernetics, serving as an authoritative forum for computer engineers, embedded systems architects, roboticists, and hardware instrumentation specialists.

All published articles are assigned a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via Crossref, ensuring permanent electronic discoverability, metadata persistence, and validated citation tracking across international indexing engines.

The journal invites original, high-quality submissions encompassing, but not limited to, the following engineering clusters:

  • Robotics, Intelligent Control Systems & Autonomous Vehicles: Autonomous mobile robots (AMR), kinematic and dynamic robot modeling, robotic manipulators, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), smart sensory feedback, adaptive PID/fuzzy logic/neural controllers, and PLC/SCADA industrial automation.
  • Computer Architecture, VLSI Design & Hardware Security: Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) synthesis, RISC-V computing architectures, hardware cryptographic accelerators, side-channel attack countermeasures, physical unclonable functions (PUF), and hardware Trojan detection.
  • Digital Signal Processing & Embedded Computer Vision: Real-time digital signal processing (DSP), sensory data fusion (LiDAR, Radar, IMU, ultrasonic), hardware-accelerated computer vision, acoustic signal recognition, and biomedical embedded instrumentation.
  • Computer Networking, Telecommunication Hardware & SDR: Software-Defined Radio (SDR), optical and wireless physical-layer communication, network processor hardware, vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET), hardware testbeds for 5G/6G communication, and hardware router architecture.
  • Biomedical Electronics, Wearable Tech & Assistive Cybernetics: Biosensors, intelligent prosthetic devices, wearable physiological monitors, assistive rehabilitation electronics, and bio-signal acquisition circuits.
Peer Review Process & Workflow

Submitted manuscripts must represent original, unpublished research not currently under evaluation elsewhere. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process administered by independent referees with established academic credentials in computer systems and hardware engineering.

  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review): The editorial team assesses scope compliance, hardware validation depth, formatting fidelity, and the complete presence of the 4 Mandatory Declarations (AI Usage, Author Contributions CRediT, Funding Statement, Conflict of Interest).
  2. Plagiarism & AI Screening: Submissions are screened using iThenticate, Turnitin, and Copyleaks. Submissions with unreferenced similarities exceeding the 20% threshold are rejected or returned for modification.
  3. Double-Blind Review: Anonymized manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent expert referees; author and reviewer identities remain strictly confidential throughout the evaluation cycle.
  4. Editorial Decision: Editorial determinations are rendered based on reviewer evaluations: Accept Submission, Revisions Required (Minor), Resubmit for Review (Major), Resubmit Elsewhere, or Decline Submission.
  5. Revision & Verification: Authors must submit revised drafts accompanied by a detailed point-by-point response letter within the stipulated timeframe. Re-evaluations are conducted by handling editors or re-sent to original reviewers.
  6. Final Production & Publication: Accepted manuscripts proceed to technical copyediting, DOI minting, and layout proofreading. Complete bibliographic metadata on the galley PDF are synchronized with the OJS portal.

SISKOM is committed to an efficient and high-quality peer review cycle. On average, authors can expect a first decision within 7 days, a peer review period of 14 days, a total submission-to-acceptance timeframe of approximately 28 days, and online publication within 7 days of acceptance. SISKOM operates in strict adherence to best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Every published article explicitly displays its chronological publication milestones (Received, Revised, Accepted, and Published dates).

Special Issue Policy

SISKOM periodically publishes Special Issues focusing on breakthrough developments in hardware cybernetics, semiconductor innovation, or select cutting-edge computing symposiums. Special Issues are guest-edited by distinguished experts and undergo identical double-blind peer review rigor as regular issues.

Proposals for Special Issues should encompass:

  • A detailed outline of the proposed hardware/computer system theme;
  • Strategic relevance to international trends in embedded engineering and IoT;
  • Guest Editorial team credentials, institutional affiliations, and Scopus/ORCID profiles;
  • A structured publication timeline covering manuscript call-for-papers, review intervals, and final galley production.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

SISKOM acknowledges the constructive assistance provided by Artificial Intelligence tools in scholarly writing while preserving academic transparency. The following principles apply to all submissions:

  • Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must declare in a designated statement prior to References whether AI-assisted software (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Grammarly AI) was utilized during drafting or linguistic refining.
  • Non-Authorship of AI: Conforming to COPE standards, AI models cannot be credited as authors or co-authors since non-human software cannot assume legal or ethical accountability for experimental hardware findings.
  • Data Authenticity & Integrity: Authors remain solely responsible for the authenticity of schematic circuit diagrams, firmware source codes, hardware testbed measurements, and experimental datasets.
  • Appropriate Application: AI usage is restricted to proofreading, grammar adjustment, and stylistic enhancements. Circuit designs, microarchitectures, laboratory measurements, and engineering conclusions must represent authentic human research.

This policy operates in strict alignment with guidelines formulated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication Frequency & Scheduling

Jurnal Sistem Komputer (SISKOM) is published four times a year (quarterly)February, May, August, and November. Each issue compiles peer-reviewed research papers and hardware prototypes highlighting practical engineering viability and theoretical depth. Open Access Statement

SISKOM is an immediate and permanent Open Access journal. All published articles are immediately accessible online without financial barriers, registration barriers, or subscription paywalls. Readers and engineering practitioners are entitled to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full texts of all articles, adhering to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) guidelines.

The journal maintains that making computer systems research accessible to the public supports widespread technological innovation, grassroots replication of open hardware, and maximized visibility for author contributions. Article Processing Charges (APC)

SISKOM operates an author-pays Open Access model supported by an Article Processing Charge (APC). The fee directly covers independent peer review operations, Crossref DOI registration, layout typesetting, anti-plagiarism screening, and perpetual digital repository archiving.

Plagiarism & AI Screening Policy

SISKOM enforces a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism, schematic fabrication, and duplicate publication. All submitted articles undergo comprehensive screening using iThenticate, Turnitin, and Copyleaks prior to external review.

Plagiarism & AI Screening Notice: Manuscripts showing an unreferenced similarity index exceeding 20% or containing undisclosed synthetic text generation will be rejected immediately or returned for major revision in accordance with COPE guidelines.
Publication Ethics & Integrity

SISKOM commits strictly to international publication ethics frameworks. We follow standards for author responsibility (CRediT taxonomy), reviewer integrity, editorial fairness, experimental validation, and formal retraction mechanisms. Conflict of Interest Policy

Authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any prospective conflicts of interest—financial, institutional, or personal—that might influence manuscript review or publication:

  • Authors: Must submit an explicit Conflict of Interest Statement prior to References disclosing hardware sponsorships, industrial research grants, or affirming their absence.
  • Reviewers: Must decline reviewing manuscripts involving close colleagues, affiliated research centers, or competing commercial developers.
  • Editors: Must recuse themselves from decisions regarding submissions in which they maintain competing institutional or personal stakes.
Retraction, Corrigenda & Expressions of Concern

SISKOM strictly executes the COPE Retraction Guidelines:

  • Corrigendum / Erratum: Issued when inadvertent typographical, calculation, or circuit schematic misprints require rectification without altering experimental conclusions.
  • Retraction: Enacted when a published article contains fabricated laboratory readings, unreferenced plagiarism, or severe ethical violations. Retracted manuscripts remain visible in archives clearly watermarked "RETRACTED".
  • Expression of Concern: Published when conclusive evidence regarding experimental misconduct is actively under editorial or institutional inquiry.
Digital Preservation & Self-Archiving

SISKOM ensures the long-term preservation and permanent open availability of all published work. The journal participates in distributed archiving architectures:

  • LOCKSS — Empowering participating global libraries to harvest and preserve decentralized digital collections.
  • CLOCKSS — Guaranteeing large-scale digital preservation across secure dark archives worldwide.
  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PN) — Providing automated archival backup for OJS systems.

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the published version (Publisher's PDF) in institutional repositories, subject archives, and academic social networks.

Journal History & Governance Milestones
  • Founding & Periodic Publication (2021): Jurnal Sistem Komputer (SISKOM) commenced regular publication in 2021 under LPPM STMIK Indonesia Banda Aceh in collaboration with the Computer System Study Program, established as a scholarly medium focused on computer architecture, embedded hardware, and electronic systems engineering.
  • Frequency Expansion to Quarterly (2026): In response to the accelerating volume of high-quality research submissions in embedded systems, IoT, and robotics, the journal officially expanded its publishing frequency in 2026 from biannual to quarterly (4 issues per year), appearing in February, May, August, and November.
  • National Accreditation – Awarded SINTA 5 (April 7, 2026): On April 7, 2026, SISKOM was officially awarded SINTA 5 national accreditation pursuant to Decree No. 156/C/C3/KPT/2026 issued by the Director General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This accreditation is valid retroactively from 2023 through 2028.
  • OJS Infrastructure Upgrade (2026): The journal completed a comprehensive technical upgrade to the latest Open Journal Systems (OJS) version 3.4.0-10, significantly optimizing server stability, metadata management, anti-plagiarism integration, and author submission responsiveness.
  • Harmonization of Standards & New Template Readiness (Target 2027): In accordance with national accreditation benchmarks (Decree No. 374/DST/D.D1/HM.01.01/2026) and global ethical publishing standards (COPE and CRediT taxonomy), an updated layout format and standardized template are formally scheduled for full implementation starting with Volume 7 in 2027. This step guarantees full genesis publication dating (Received, Revised, Accepted, Published), rigorous PDF-to-web metadata fidelity, and mandatory fourfold author declarations (AI disclosure, author contributions, funding, and conflicts of interest).
